About this person:

Hollis came from a radical family and was an important member of the so-called eighteenth century commonwealth men. He edited the works of earlier radical thinkers like Locke, Toland, and Sidney. His edition of Locke’s Two Treatises of 1764 was widely circulated in the American colonies and helped spread Lockean ideas of property rights.
