I can open and clean a desktop, laptop or netbook, and add or
change components like memory chips, hard drives, CD-Rom drives.
I can cannibalize computers, i.e. build a new one from leftover
parts.
I can do maintainance tasks like defragmentation and virus
removal, create bootable recovery devices, partition a drive to create
a dual boot setup.
I can install Windows, Macintosh, and Linux operating systems,
update drivers or find alternative drivers.
I have experience with data recovery for Macintosh and Windows
systems.
I have experience setting up dual monitors and assistive software
like text-to-speech, and software that helps people with health issues
like repetitive stress injury — as well as all kinds of periphery
devices like printers, modems and graphic tablets.
I also have experience running a computer repair shop, including
the daily office routines, and going on service calls.
I have rooted my mp3 player (Sansa Fuze) and installed Rockbox as
a dual boot, and my next fun project will be rooting my new Nook
Tablet.
